Yesterday I tried a nicotine patch to relieve my UC symptoms. Studies show Nicotine helps UC patients but is detrimental to Crohn's. Anyways, after 24 hours on a 7mg patch I had had enough. Fatigue, loss of appetite and overall malaise became the order of the day. It was hard to do anything today but sleep and occasionally get some exercise by bolting to the toilet.
Regarding diet I don't know what to eat anymore. I'm sick of eating low fiber animal products. Any carbs just hurt me, wheat being the worst, causing blood within hours.

Regarding your diet - you sound like me shortly before I had surgery. I lived on chicken, potatoes, pasta, saltines, etc. Try eggs for a change of pace maybe (if you haven't already). I scrambled egg whites, and I'd also eat the white part of hard boiled eggs (the yolks made my IBS act up).
ReplyDeleteHang in there! I am now just over 5 months since I got the bag, and I can eat just about anything I want. :) I had 3 slices of Jet's pizza the other night with italian sausage on it. That would have killed me before.
It will be nice to be able to eat again! Not as a glutton but simply to eat a salad or potatoes or a sandwich without pain afterwards.
ReplyDeleteWhat about pigeon's????
