Heaven

I took a shower without bags or tubes or catheters attached to me.  It felt like it took 10 minutes but probably was closer to 30+ minutes.   I can't describe the joy of being unencumbered.   It's not that the bag was bad to have.  Not in the least.

This shower offered something altogether different: the sudden removal of the diverting tubes that shackled my freedom, the bag that reminded me of my illness, the IV drip that was my too often companion.

That shower felt so good it was worth a week in the hospital.

  2. This is so great to hear! I'm so happy for you! Every time I take a shower, and find myself taping up the sides of my flange, and then re-applying gauze and tape to my incision site, etc, I remind myself that someday soon I'll be able to take a shower with NOTHING attached to my abdomen. I can't wait. :)

  3. Hang in there, you never know what surprises you'll get! Sometimes they can be good, as in my jpouch, to-date. It's nice to not have anything on my belly!
