Before my surgery I asked the ostomy nurse at St. Mikes if my big belly was due to colitis. Specifically, I asked if my belly would go away and I would get leaner abs when the colitis is out. She very quickly, very abruptly and somewhat meanly said "no". The aura of her "no" kind of hurt my feelings actually. If she would have waited .25 seconds longer to say it, and without a tone of glee, it would have felt quite different ...Anyways, she was Wrong( !!!!) My gut dropped quite a bit in size as the distension disappeared. I now sport a leaner belly which could be framed very nicely when my body becomes more toned and the prednisone is out of my system. (prednisone causes neck fat and belly fat to increase).
Showing off my future 4 or 6 pack will be difficult though given the bag hanging off the side. At least I'll know it's there.
